The first inning of the Twins-Yankees game at Kuhn Field proved to hold the most promise for a pretty good baseball game. The Yankees came up first and jumped out to a 5-0 lead on 2 walks and 5 hits with the big blow being a double off the bat off Gennelis. The Twins swallowed hard, gritted their teeth, and scored 5 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning that featured a bases loaded clearing double by Greg Briscoe. The rest of the game was a struggle fo the Twins who could field only 8 mostly walking wounded players of their own plus a borrowed EJ Seney from the Pirates to make 9. There is no question that what was a very good Yankees team in 2019 has transformed itself into the hands down best of the best of the 55s with the addition of top tier players from teams that did not enter in 2020. For me it is enough to tie up this report by giving the game totals. Yankees 17 runs, 13 hits, 3 errors. Twins 5 runs, 5 hits, 4 errors. Dont forget to call your mom if youre lucky enough to still have her.
