The WhizKids and Pirates squared off Wednesday night at New Scotland. Bob Bolt, in his pitching debut for the Whiz, went 4 innings, allowing just 2 hits and one unearned run. That run came in the top of the first, but the Whiz responded in the bottom of the frame in a big way. Gene Hallenbeck had a run scoring single to drive in the first run, then later in the inning hammered a 3-run shot over the left field fence. Plenty of other contributions as every Whiz had at least one hit. EJ Seney and Jim Ansel each had a hit for the Pirates.
