Leading hitters for the Twins were Terry McCarthy with 3 singles and a double, Rick Saidenberg single and 2 doubles, and unfleet of foot Joe Parker parking a titanic triple in ultra deep right field. Ken Shaw led the Pirates going 2-3. Jimmy Dalton threw the final 5 for the Pirates in relief of Jim Ansel and flummoxed, perplexed, and stymied a number of Twins hitters.
