Cubs beat Pirates on a beautiful night in Central Park.

The B-Diamond, in Central Park was a beautiful place for the Pirates and Cubs to play their make-up of a rain out last night.
The field was in great shape, and the weather was picture perfect!

The story of the game was the Cubs pitching and hitting. Scott Ross started for the Cubs and pitched 4 strong innings, giving up
just two singles (Fred Pigeon and Wayne Newcomb), and no runs, while walking just 1 and striking out 5. He did a masterful job pitching around three
miscues by his shortstop (yours truly), only allowing one runner to make it as far as third base. Kevin Moon came on in the 5th inning, and returned to
his old form, setting down 3 of the 4 hitters that he faced, walking the other. Kevin had struggled with his control in his previous outings on the mound,
but showed improved command after a pre-game work out session on the bump. He had a good bit of the old zip on his fastball as well. Great to see!

The Cubs offense was led by Ron McCarthy who was a perfect 4 for 4, with 3 RBI's. Scott Ross was also perfect (3 for 3) with an RBI and a stolen base.
Paul Miles, Mike Reutter, Andy Hoyle, Dave Mitchell, and Mike Girard all added two hits each, in a 19-hit and 13 run attack.

The Cubs 13-0 win gives them a 5-0 record, heading into a big game with the 4-1 Dodgers on Thursday night at the A-Diamond, at 6:00 pm.
The Dodgers always play the Cubs tough, and this promises to be a competitive, hard fought game. The game will also mark the return of PJ (Pat) Martone,
in for a week from his new home in Phoenix. He will be joining his Cubbie friends for our next two games while he is in town.

We have also been informed that Alex Marin will be making his first appearance at a Cubs game, after his horrible accident that cost him his 2021 season, and almost cost him his life.
Come on out to the A-Diamond tonight if you want to catch a great game and see Alex and wish him well on the rest of his road to recovery.
