With a perfect evening for baseball and the field at New Scotland soggy in spots but playable, the Angels and Twins met for the first time this season last night. Wayne Nicholsen again took the mound for the home team Twins and got all the runs he would need in the bottom of the first as leadoff hitter Lee Madsen hit a solid single to right center and came around to score on a one out triple by Jeff Whitehead. After a strikeout, Whitehead was plated when John Newman tagged a two out double. Joe Parker also hit a long towering double for the Twins in the second. The Twins added to their lead with runs in the second, third, and fifth earning a 7-0 win. Nicholsen was steady throughout for the Twins allowing 6 hits, 4 walks, and recording one strikeout. The Twins collected 7 hits in the game. No player on either team had more than one hit. Over the past nine days, Wayne Nicholsen has pitched 31 innings in 5 games, 4 complete, going 2-2 , both losses 2-1 scores. The Twins and Angels meet again tomorrow, Friday, at Watervliet High School.
