Two days after the Twins shutout the Angels, they were back at it at Watervliet High School. The Twins struck first as they did in the first game scoring 2 runs in the first with Jeff Whitehead lining a single knocking in Madsen and McCarthy who walked and singled respectively. In the bottom of the second Angels Poleto led off with a double and scored on a Caputo single. Scorsone followed with a single. First and second, no outs. Next batter hits into a 6-5-3 double play, and the inning ends on a 5-3 groundout. Twins pick up one more in the top of the third after Madsen leads off with a walk, steals second and third and scores on a sac fly to center by Whitehead. 3-1 Twins. Angels scratch one out in the bottom of the fifth as Scorsone singles, steals second and third and scored on a sac fly by Gadomski. 3-2 Twins. Bottom of the sixth Angels score 2 on 4 straight singles by Hinman, Madden, Kalinski, and Poleto. 4-3 Angels. Top of the seventh the Twins came up with 3 singles by King, Briscoe-go ahead rbi-and Dom Archidiacono2 insurance runs batted in-and 3 walks to Whitehead , Nicholsen, and Koutsakis resulting in 4 runs. 7-4 Twins. Starting pitcher Newman retired the Angels 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 7th to end the game. The Angels, who are much stronger than their record indicates, outhit the Twins 9-7. 6 walks by Angels pitchers verses no walks by Newman for the Twins proved to be the difference. It was a well played game with Gadomski pitching 6 solid innings for the Angels giving up just 3 runs, 4 hits, striking out 3, and walking 3. John Newman, who crafted his standard multifaceted gem of a game, went the distance for the Twins allowing 9 hits, striking out 4 and walking none.
