Lots of Twins hits in this game. Lots of Twins runs. While the Pirates got their bats on the ball most of the time, they were mostly hit to Twins defenders. That happens to all teams at one time or another. Leading the Twins offense were Rick Saidenberg and Jeff Whitehead with 3 hits each including a triple and double respectively. John Newman and Joe Parker each had 2 hits for the Twins. Ray Meandro led the Pirates offense lining a sharp single to left in the second saving his team from being no hit by Twins starter John Newman who earned the win allowing 1 hit and issuing 2 walks.
Jim E is being modest and classy. The Twins beat us in every aspect of the game with authority! Good 1 - 2 punch with Wayne N. and John N. on the mound, solid defense at every position, and all 1-9 can hit! Will be a dangerous playoff opponent! Good luck the Twins the rest of the way!
