The WhizKids and Angels played their game last night at the A diamond, ahead of the storm that swept through the Capital region. However, the WhizKids did bring the thunder (14 hits) and lightning (Bolt throws 6 shutout innings) as the they won their quarterfinals game 12-0. Jeff Friedman went 3-3 with a sacrifice fly, while Shawn Martin and Pete Geanellis had 2 hits each. Bob Bolts scattered 5 hits, didnt issue a walk, and struck out 2. Craig Turnbull had 2 hits for the Angels.
The WhizKids begin their semifinals series on Monday, against the winner of tonights Giants-Yankees game.
In my initial post, I neglected to mention that Bob Holmes also had 2 hits, including a 2-run single in the 4th inning that increased the lead to 5-0. Right guy at the right time!
