In a game that went the full 7 innings, the Eagle youngsters with wheels and the right arm of Killian, and good D took it to the Pirates in Game #3 of our Fall Series. Their youthful edge was the difference, playing solid defense while we struggled at the plate and defensively. Not our best showing. Balance of the series is up in the air, as Scotia BR is closing after Sundays games. We are trying for Blatnick Park or Shuttleworth, but nothing confirmed yet. Also weather looks to be an issue with cold and rain forecast for most of next week. Paul Daly pitched well for us and we were in a 1-1 game into the 3rd inning. Some good swings and troubles on defense opened the door to a big inning, from which Pirates never recovered. Eagles attack led by Zaretsky 4-4, 3 rbi and 2 r, and Denofio 2/5 2 rbi and 2 r. Pirates could only manage 4 hits against Killian who mixed a good fastball with a sharp slider and hook. Daly had a ringing double, while Colton Becker, Howard Becker and Ken Shaw chipped in with the other hits. The Eagles while anywhere from 30 - 50 years younger than the Buccos are to man, all gentlemen, with a passion for the game, and who played the game the right way. Hats off to their Manager Jonathan Witzke who has put a nice club together of fun loving, hard playing guys! God I love this game!
