Giants 6, Orioles 2

In a rare Saturday night game, the Giants opened their inaugural season with a 6-2 win over the Orioles at New Scotland.
Jerry Solomon pitched 5 solid innings, giving up both runs on 4 of the 7 hits he allowed in the second inning.
Bill Smith knocked in the first-ever Giants run, plating Dan Maguire with a two-out single to center.
Mark Lennox, who had two hits, a walk and stolen base, was in the middle of a two-run rally as the O's took a 2-1 lead in the second.
But Jim Walter clubbed a long home run to left-center to lead off the 4th, keying a 5-run rally. After a one-out walk to Mike Lannon, Mike Aiello reached on an error and Solomon singled. Two more O's errors around singles by Maguire and Keegan capped the rally.
Wayne Phillips came on with two hitless innings of relief for the (yes, another Giants' first), save.
Bobby Bolt and Buckley had two hits each for the O's.
O's manager Dick Stark sat the game in uniform to serve his mandatory suspension for being ejected in the last game of the season last year.
