Albany represents down in Florida Fall Classic

Albany had some players go down for the 45 Div and 50 Div age groups for the MSBL FALL CLASSIC. 45 week was a challenge in weather alone. Having a category 1 hurricane/Tropical storm hit us Tues night in thru Thur morning we played a condensed schedule. Mon we played 1 game Tues 3 shortened games , our last pool game was Friday morning then played right into playoffs. We made it to the playoff round but didnt turn out the way we wanted it to. guys that came down for the 45 week were Dan Tarullo, Lex Herrlett , Jj Janetsky , Bob ALTOBELLI, Adam ELLENBOGEN , Tim Burns , Rich Cavalier, and Paul Daly!
50s week weather was better guys that stayed from the 45 week Lex , Bob , Jj, Adam , Rich, Tim , with additions of Joe Careccia , Carlos Llerra, Dave Leonard . Started off against a Vezenzualian team that had a roster of 37 players 11 who has played in the minors and Pros. Where we had ZERO. Took a tough loss with some help of some u timely errors. Game 2 we played against a Rhode Island team, and our bats started coming alive won 7-1, game 3 against facing an upper division team, Tri state cobras had the lead going into the 9th inning 5-4, 2 miscues and lost 6-5 in the 9th. Game 4 a Chicago team where everyone contributed offensively and won 17-7, game 5 played another American/Nat Div team Tanios. They had so many players I had to use 2 score sheets. This one was a heart breaker lost in 10 inning 3-2. Put us 2-3 pool play. GOOD NEWS 2 team we held tie breakers over that were playing upper teams that were 4-0 BOTH TEAMS SANDBAGGED and lost that last game which was disappointing. We would have been up in the American. But placed us in the central division! Still had to play tough teams. First round we played vezenzuala again. knowing they beat us 11-2 they were pretty confident. BUT we Scored some runs early shut down their lineup and came away with the 9-2 victory! Onto the finals where we played weight field reds . Bats didnt cool off jumped to an early lead. And finished off strong winning the 50 central div CHAMPIONSHIP. I am PROUD of all the NY guys , also had the privilege to play along side DOUG FLUTIE! Played Short For us all week. Great week of baseball with some great Memories!

Congrats Lex, and the Albany Yankees.
Always nice to win the last game of the year.
Super nice when they put a ring on your finger!

Three years in a row coming home with a championship ring.
No coincidence
Nicely done TB.

You're far too kind Ralph, I think all that means is that I've had the good fortune to play with some really good players down in Florida, yourself included!

It is really nice to see what an impact our "lil" city has had on some of these tournaments, just over the past handful of years teams from the CDMSBL have knocked off teams from Chicago, Cleveland, Tampa, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Minneapolis, St Louis, Atlanta and Charlotte just to name a few, many of those teams including ex-MLB and many minor league professionals.

I'm just lucky to be that guy you can plug and play anywhere on the field and hopefully I can get the job done when it matters

Also shout out to Chris Dunn who's racked up a handful now and Carlos Espada who has had back to back MVP performances on the way to two titles!

Joe Careccia: " Nice job, Doug, but you just stole my RBI opportunity."
