62 Cardinals and Arachnids in a Tight One

The Arachnids put up 2 earned runs in the bottom of the first off Cards starter Bill Chichester via a Kenny Wellington single, a long double by Darrell Duncan a stolen base and a fielders choice. Those were the only runs scored until the top of the 4th when the Cardinals scored 2 of their own capitalizing on an error, a hit batter, a walk, and singles by Cortese and Shultis but left the bases loaded as starting pitcher Duncan got the 3rd out with a huge bases loaded K. Arachnids come up with 6 hits and 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th with the big blow being a 2 run opposite field double by Mike Ruslander. Final score 4-2 Arachnids against a good Cardinals team. Chichester pitched a strong game departed in the 5th with the score tied 2-2. Duncan went 4 innings giving up 4 hits, 1 walk, 2 hit batters, and 4 Ks. Wellington picked up the win in 3 innings of relief, 2 hits, 3 walks, 1 K. Offensively the Cards had 6 singles. 12 hits for the Arachnids, 2 hits each for Wellington, Duncan, TJ Scorsone, and Jim Edelman. Cardinals delivered 104 pitches over 6 innings while the home team threw 92 over 7. The Cards stranded 6 baserunners and the Arachnids 9. Also, totally worth noting, without the stellar play of Joe Parker who made several outstanding plays at first base, the Arachnids would not have won the game.
