I've not done this before, but felt compelled to post this job opening.
Waterford Clock specializes in repair and restoration of cuckoo, grandfather, wall, mantel and antique clocks. It's service tech recently retired after more than 25 years. The company is seeking someone full time to learn the trade. I've been taking my old clocks to them for years, but now it is open for just 6 hours a week. To show how high the demand is for service, I brought an old mantle clock in April and have asked for a house call to service my grandfather clock. They can't get to it until September. The young lady that is now doing those repairs can work just 6 hours a week. She is leaving the area to pursue her doctorate I believe in mechanical engineering. The woman who owns the shop is seeking someone to learn the trade and hopefully make it a career or it will have to close its doors.
I'm told there is another place in Schenectady and that the service tech there is also retiring, so that place may close its doors. My niece in Pottsville, Pa., has a mantle clock in need of repair and the closest place to her is in Wilkes-Barre - about a 2+hour drive.
I have no idea what the pay is, but if service techs last 25+ years, they must be fairly compensated.
If you have kids looking for a direction outside of traditional college, you might want to steer them to visit Waterford Clock. Yes, it's in Waterford and you can visit its Website for directions, phone number and hours of operation.

Fine, thoughtful notice, Jim. Hope you get a taker.
Hope, too, if others know of openings in other places they post them here. It's a real service.

I'll take you up on that thought Mike. My wife and I bought East Greenbush Window Coverings in 2019 and it has gone better than I could possibly imagine however we struggle daily to get the installations done. We currently use several different subcontractors and while it offers some advantages over an in house employee it definitely limits our growth and makes it more difficult to provide top notch customer service. I would love to hire a full time installer and would obviously love someone with industry experience but anyone with with a background in carpentry, property management or just tools in general would be a potential fit. There's all sorts of opportunity to be involved in the entire process and not just do installations all day every day. If any of the older guys who are retired would be interested in some part time work that's a possibility as well.
Anyone who is interested or may know someone can contact me for more details.
