Cubs push their record to 9-0 with a victory over the Americans.

The Cubs and Americans got together last night at a beautifully manicured Watervliet High School field.

The Cubs hitters pounded out 18 hits and 15 runs in 5 innings. Ron Lochner and Jerry Rosen had 4 hits each.
Leadoff man, Jim McQuade, was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's. Cubs' 9-hitter, Mike Girard, added 3 hits and Dan Hernandez chipped in with 2 hits.

Girard took the mound for the Cubs, and threw a 5 inning shut out. He scattered 4 hits, while walking none and striking out 3.
Dan Durback led the American's offense with a double over the left fielder's head. Mark Finelli, Ralph Caputo, and Gibby Travis had the other hits
for the Americans.

The Cubs push their league leading record to 9-0, with the win. The Americans dropped to 3-7 , with the loss.

Next up: The 4th of July holiday break. I wish all of my baseball brothers a very happy and healthy holiday weekend.
We will see you on the other side.
