With threatening weather throughout the region the Whiz and Twins caught a break and were able to get a full game in at Chatham. The weather actually turned quite beautiful once the game got rolling. Thanks to some hard work by Brad Buchan, Greg Mangione from the Whiz who arrived early, and some unknown Samaritan, the field was in excellent shape. The Whiz struck right away in the top of the first scoring 2 unearned runs a Sarani walk, Shawn Martin reaching on a fielders choice, a double by Jeff Friedman , and a Twins error. Whiz scored another run in the third making it 3-0. Two more for the Whiz in the 5th as Martin and Jeff Friedman are plated by a Jan Friedman single. Twins finally hit a little pay dirt in the 5th as Mike Ruslander singles to drive home Stefan Koutsakis who had also singled and moved to second when Terry McCarthy walked. 5-1 Whiz. 3 more unearned runs for the Whiz in the 6th as Peter Geannelis flies out to center, Mangione reaches on an error, Holmes pops out to short, Sarani is hit by a pitch, Graziano doubles, Martin singles, Jeff Friedman walks, and Jan Friedman lines to center for the third out. Both teams hit the ball hard much of the night but it was the Whiz who actually had that good contact turn into base hits collecting 13. Major hitters for the Whiz were Jeff and Jan Friedman with 3 hits each and Geannelis with 2. Twins managed just 4 hits against complete game winner Jim Burns. McCarthy had a double for the Twins.
