The Arachnids and Peppers were more than a little fortunate to get in a full game on 7-17-23 at New Scotland . Although the field was squishy in many spots, especially around foul territory near the backstop and dugouts, the infield had been dragged, lines put down, and home plate painted very nicely. The drainage work that was done has really helped. Both teams scored in the first and it was 1-1 entering the 3rd when the Spiders tacked on 4 more. Bottom of the 4th saw the Peppers score another making it 5-2 Arachnids entering the 5th. The visiting Spiders bats got hot in the final 3 frames as they steadily pulled away. Final score 10-3 Arachnids. Leading the way for the Peppers were Charlie Freer and Dan Durback with 2 hits each. For the visitors Kenny Wellington went 4-4, Jimmy Wing 3-4, and 2 hits each for Darrell Duncan, Lee Madsen, Joey Parker, and Jim Edelman. Duncan picked up the win pitching the first 4 innings. Arachnids pitchers delivered 88 pitches while the Peppers hurlers accounted for 149. It was good to see Spider Tom King make an appearance at the game. He was in good spirits and is slowly making his way back to the time when he can once again play this great game.
