Twins v Whiz


The Twins and Whiz met at the New Scotland field last night. Starting for the Whiz was Jeff Friedman, for the Twins it was Jeff Whitehead. Both pitchers got through the 1st inning unscathed. Top of the 2nd saw the Twins getting things going. With 2 outs Greg Briscoe hit a single, followed by a single from Joe Parker. John Reel hit an RBI single to give the Twins a 1-0 lead. Bottom of the 2nd saw Gene Hallenbeck with a lead off single followed by Bob Bolt with a single. Jim Hicks laid down a sacrifice bunt, moving the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Jan Friedman hit an RBI single, followed by an error that scored another run. Joe Burns hit an RBI single, followed by Jeff Friedman with an RBI single. Score after the 2nd, 5 -1 Whiz. Top of the 3rd the Twins scored another run, with 2 outs Charlie Freer hit a single, followed by a BB to Jeff Whitehead. Rick Saidenberg had an RBI single. Bottom of the 3rd saw the Whiz score 3 more. Doug Reisinger had a lead off single followed by BB to Hallenbeck. Bolt had an RBI single, followed by Hicks with an RBI single. Bob Holmes completed the Whiz scoring with an RBI single. 8-2 Whiz after 3. Top of the 4th saw Stefan Koutsakis with a leadoff single, followed by Terry McCarthy with a single. Briscoe hit a ball to the right side of the infield that moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Parker also hit the ball to the right side of the infield that scored Koutsakis. Bottom of the 4th saw Rick Fleurent come in to pitch for the Twins. Jeff Friedman hit a single followed by Shawn Martin reaching on an error. Doug Reisinger hit a single to load the bases. Hallenbeck hit a bases clearing double, followed by Bolt with a single. Jan Friedman hit a 2RBI double. Whiz 13-3 after 4 innings. Top of the 5th saw Bob Bolt come in to pitch for the Whiz. Bolt got the first two batters out. Rodney Smith hit a ball through the left center gap and tried to stretch the hit into a double. Joe Burns made an on the money throw getting Smith out at 2nd to end the game. For the Whiz Jeff Friedman and Bob Bolt were both 3-3. Gene Hallenbeck was 2-2 with a double, followed by Jan Friedman who was 2-3 with a double and Doug Reisinger who was 2-3. The Twins collected 9 hits scattered amongst the players. Jeff Friedman and Bob Bolt combined for 3 K and 2 BB for the Whiz. Jeff Whitehead and Rick Fleurent gave up 15 hits with 1 BB.
Final score 13-3 Whiz.
