The Cubs were seeded 7th in the AAA division. Our first opponent will be the 10th seed - Lansing Blue Jays (Michigan). That game will start at 1:30 pm at the Twins Spring Training complex (Field 4). When we win that game, we will play a quarter final game at 5:30 pm in the Stadium at the same complex against either the 15 seed Carolina Rockies or the 2 seed Baltimore Orioles. We played the Orioles Wednesday at that same venue. Very winnable game.
Then, after playing 18 innings and not getting done until close to 9:00 at night, we will get a quick bite to eat and try to get some sleep, as the Semi-finals will be played at 10:00 am on Saturday morning. Our likely opponent will either be the 3 seed American Baseball Team (Curt Tucker's team), or the Maine Black Bears (a very familiar team with Jack Griffin and Rick Caruso). Then after the dust clears on that "battle royale," we will be on to the finals at 1:45 pm to likely play the number 1 seed Aurora Islanders (Illinois).
This "gauntlet" will be made up of 36 innings in less than 36 hours, against the best 60 year old teams in the country. To a certain extent, this will be a war of attrition. We have saved lots of bullets, resting players and setting up our pitching, so we are set up as well as we could be, and are entering "the real tournament" very confident of our chances to get to the finals.
We appreciate all of the support and well wishes that we are getting from home. It means a lot to all of us.
