it was a good, tight game, a game of small-ball, on a pretty night at cba. it was also the blue jays' first game since may 2nd and a month of rain.
we faced a very good pitcher in andy sheehan – 7 strikeouts, no walks, 1 unearned run – as he mixed his pitches (fine curve, well-located fastball, good change) and kept all of us off balance at the plate.
we matched him with john weber’s stellar pitching (1 earned run, 2 strikeouts, 3 walks) and a defense that was marked by several good plays, including two double plays, a pickoff and a sharp relay from left to short to home keep a runner at third.
we started about 6:30 - there was a sectional high school game before us - but we got all seven innings in. kent sellner was the only ump - but did a very good job.
