The Damn Yankees and Whiz met last night at the Rotterdam field under the lights. The game was moved due to repairs at the A Diamond, causing the venue change. The Yankees got things going in the 1st inning, Lex Herrlett and Bob Altobelli both singled. Tony Parella followed with an RBI single. Jack Griffin ended the scoring with an RBI single. Bottom of the 1st had the Whiz even the score at 2. Paul Scutieri had a single followed by walks to Jeff Friedman and Paul Graziano. With 2 outs Mike Kane reached base on an error that scored 2 runs. Top of the 2nd for the Yankees had Paul Post reach base on a single. With 2 outs Altobelli had his second hit of the game for the RBI. Bottom of the 2nd had Greg Mangione reach on a BB. Gene Hallenbeck, Jeff Friedman, Doug Reisinger and Barry Friedman reached on singles. That, along with an infield error resulted in 4 runs for the Whiz. Bottom of the 3rd, the Whiz scored 2 more runs. Two errors and a sac bunt had runners at 2nd & 3rd. Hallenbeck and Scutieri had RBI singles. The Yankees scored 1 more in the top of the 6th . Paul Post reached base on an error. Dave Smitherman had an RBI single. Whiz scored 1 run in the bottom of the 6th. Reisinger led off with a double and scored on a Barry Friedman single. Doug Duell & Herrlett pitched for the Yankees, giving up 11 hits with 3 BB's and 1 K. For the Whiz Jeff Friedman and Hallenbeck were 2 for 3. Reisinger had a double and was 2 for 4 as was Scutieri and Barry Friedman. For the Whiz, Mike Kane and Joe Burns pitched, giving up 13 hits with 3 K's and 1 HBP. For the Yankees Altobelli and Jack Griffin were 3 for 4. Chad Bowman was 2 for 3.
