The visiting Twins got on the scoreboard first as Stefan Koutsakis doubled to open the game, moved to third on a 43 ground out by Jeff Whitehead and scored on a Steve Rychcik single. Rychcik moved to third on a McCarthy ground out to first and scored when Jim Tinos grounder to second was misplayed. 2-0 Twins. The Pirates came right back in the bottom of the first as Jimmy Jasiewicz singled, stole second and third and scored on an infield ground out. 2-1 ballgame. The Twins scored another run in the top of the third when Rychcik reached on an infield error, stole 2nd, and scored on a Terry McCarthy single. Koutsakis walked to open the fourth came around to score on two singles, making it 4-1 Twins. Bottom of the fifth saw the Pirates tack on two runs via 2 Twins errors and a base hit. 4-3 Twins after 5 full. Everything changed over the last two innings as the Twins exploded for 13 runs on 12 hits and six walks. The Pirates got two more in the bottom of the seventh led by a long double over the centerfielders head by Amber Ring but it wasnt enough. Final score 17-5 Twins. The Pirates have several solid pitchers this season and have the tools to make some good runs at all teams. Leading the offense for the Pirates were Jimmy Jazz and Dave Marshall with two hits each and Amber Ring with a double. Leading hitters for the Twins were McCarthy 4 hits, Rodney Smith 3 hits, Steve Rychcik 2 hits, borrowed player Greg Mangioe 2 hits, and Stefan Koutsakis a double. Jeff Whitehead picked up a complete game victory scattering six hits, hitting 1 batter, striking out 4, while walking one. The Pirates used six pitchers in the ball game.
