Reds 4 - A's 1 (5 innings)

The A's and Reds squared off at SUNY for what ended up to be a rain shortened game. A good call by the umpire's. Kevin Moon started for the A's and pitched a great game before having to come out in the third. Bonaporte scored the A's only run with Smith going 2-2. Ron McCarthy had a 2 RBI double along with Dennis Reuters RBI single and run scored in the 4th for the Reds.
It was good to see Kevin back with the A's and our thoughts go out to him for a speedy return.

Beaten to the punch!

Another Potato Trick Update: Broke down. Purchased a ten-pound bag of potatoes. I'm now trying the trick at work. Oh, sad, sad day......

Ok - back to the game...

Nice game, Reds. I would like to give a full run down, but my book is incomplete. I did not have anyone on the bench to keep the scorebook (Mr. Clapper - is there any way I can get a copy of your scorebook? I like to keep full stats).

Anyway, it was scoreless until the 3rd, when the Reds scored first. Kevin Moon had pitched a fantastic game up to that point, but had to leave with a physical problem. With Moon out of the game, the Reds struck while the iron was hot (like getting struck with a cold iron hurts any less?). Some keys hits and costly miscues summed it up. The Reds pitcher also had a great game, going the distance of 5 innings, keeping the A's off balance the whole time.
