It was a warm and hazy night at A Diamond with a 7:45 start. Arachnids starting pitcher TJ Scorsone set down the Americans 1-2-3 to start the game. In the bottom of the first, the spiders pushed across two runs on two walks and two hits off American starter Jimmy K. arachnids up 2-0 and that is the way it stayed through 3 full innings as SCORSONE and Konstantakis settled into a nice pitchers duel. However, one thing this old man has learned, everything changes. Top of the fourth Jesse Braverman opens with a single, Greg Mangione walks, Mike Kane singles, Greg Lounello singles, Pete Gennellis singles and all of a sudden the Americans had a 4-2 lead. Bottom of the fifth Jim Edelman opens by lining out to shortstop followed by Bob Bolt taking a walk, Darrell Duncan reaches on a fielders choice as Bolt was cut down at second. 2 outs. Scorsone walks. Saidenberg walks, Stefan Koutsakis singles driving in Duncan and Scorsone but Saidenberg was thrown out at third to end the inning. All tied up 4-4 after five full. Top of the sixth nothing happening with the Americans. Bottom of the inning King grounds out 5-3. Jimmy Wing strokes, a double and is driven home by a Terry McCarthy single. 5-4 Arachnids after 6. Top of the seventh Greg Lounello hammers a long double to right center to start the inning. Lounello proceeds to steal second base. Next batter grounds out 6 to 3. Lounello moves up to third. Base on balls to Gennellis. Passed ball plates Lounello. 5-5 going to the bottom of the seventh. Darrell Duncan strokes the first pitch for a line drive single to center off reliever Lounello. Scorsone follows with another single. Saidenberg is walked intentionally to load the bases. Koutsakis grounds to shortstop and the throw goes to the plate to nail Duncan. One out. Tom King comes to the plate and battles Lounello and on a 2-2 pitch, hits a clean single to right field driving home Scorsone for the 6-5 Arachnids win. Its interesting to note that all three games between the arachnids and Americans this season have been decided by one run. The Americans defeated the arachnids in the first game of the season 3-2 and the spiders won the next two games 4-3 and 6-5. The five runs the Americans put up last night were the most runs in a game anyone has pinned on the spiders this season. There were 0 errors in the ball game. Nice ! The Americans had seven hits while they arachnids garnered 14. Leading the Americans offense was Lounello who went 3-3. Leading hitters for the spiders were Terry McCarthy 3-3, and Tom King 2-4 with three RBIs. Koutsakis 2 RBIs. Scorsone picked up a complete game victory. Jimmy K went 4 2/3 and Lounello 2 1/3 for the Americans. It was a good game.
