Game 1 - The Fort Orange Mohawks began their inaugural entry in the Roy Hobbs Tournament with a walk-off comeback rally. Top of the 1st, the Kent Mudhens put up 3 runs on 1 hit with the help of a tight strike zone and 3 walks. In the bottom of first, Ray Coletta led off the with a booming line over the CF head that rolled all the way to the 405 ' fence for an inside the park HR. Similar to the 1st inning, the Mudhens put up 3 more runs on 1 hit and 3 walks. The Mohawks added 1 in the bottom of the 3rd, cutting the score to 6-2. The Mudhens extended the score to 12-2 with the help off 3 hits and 6 more walks. With a "no quit" mentality, the Mohawks rallied back to tie the score at 12-12, through a combination of walks and timely hits. The Mudhens responded in the top of the 6th, adding 4 more runs on 3 hits and 4 more walks. The Mohawks failed to score in the bottom of the 6th. Down 4, the Mudhens were held scoreless in the Top of the 7th. as John Weber finally found the strike zone. In the bottom of the 7th, last inning under the time rule, the Mohawks mounted their rally. After a leadoff walk, a hit and another walk the Mohawks had the bases loaded and no outs against the Mudhens closer. From there, mixing in 3 singles and a walk, the Mohawks tied the game with no outs and bases still loaded. With Jimmy T as the winning run on 3rd base, lefty Jeff Whitehead blooped a soft fly ball into LF that neither the third baseman, SS or LF could get to. Jimmy T got a great jump and raced home for the walk-off win. Final score Mohawks 17 - Mudhens 16 (on 9 hits and 16 walks). M
