May the 5th be with you. And it was at A Diamond. Game was scheduled for a 7:30 PM start but SAGE college was using the field for practice and we got started a little late. Theres just too much to say about this game so Ill try to nutshell it. Wayne Nicholsen started for the Twins and went three innings surrendering seven runs, 4 earned, and was hurt by defensive lapses in the field. 9 hits, 1 walk and 2 Twins errors helped the Yankees over the first 3. JEFF WHITEHEAD pitched the final four innings for the Twins and it was my poor judgment to leave him in too long. The formable Yankees tacked on 11 more runs, 8 earned, from the fourth through the seventh on 10 hits, four walks, and were the recipients of four more Twins errors. Doug Duell started for the Yankees holding the twins to just two runs and 5 hits over the first 5 innings. However, the Twins woke up in the sixth thinning scoring eight runs on six hits, 2 walks, 1 error, and 2 hit batters making the score 11-10 Yankees entering the 7th. The Yankees rose to the challenge and scored 7 more runs in the top of the frame to pretty much put the game on a shelf too high for the Twins to reach in their last at bat. No more magic for the home team. Rain off and on throughout the game. That wasnt what they were calling for. So be it. It was a long night. Game ended at 10:35. Final score 18-10 , Yankees. The Yankees have a very strong pitching staff and excellent hitters from top to bottom. They can field too.

Twins could have easily packed it in and let the game get over with the POURING rain and the score IN THE 5th but they fought back put the ball in play and competed till the end. Very much improved Twins team. Wil be a tough out through the season. First game both teams had to deal with some rust, and some un characteristic errors ,I apologize to the 2 guys I slipped on the mound and hit back to back, I am not out looking to hit anyone. Jim have your guys keep swinging it , you have a great bunch of guys! Good luck the rest of the season
