Another lovely warm and humid evening at A Diamond last night. Although the umpire was a half hour late for the game, we got it in. The Home team spiders scored four runs in the bottom of the first and starter Wayne Nicholsen took a no-hitter into the fifth inning against the Yankees. However, in the fifth the Yankees broke through with 4 hits and three runs to make it a 4-3 ball game, Arachnids. The spiders went to their relievers, but the always dangerous Yankees put two more runs on the board in the 6th and 1 more in the seventh to make it a 6-4 ball game. Yankees third pitcher of the ball game, Ron Massaroni, pitched the 6th and 7th to close the door on the spiders with the Yankees going away with the win. Pitchers for the Yankees were Bonaparte, Weber, and Massaroni who picked up the win in relief. Nicholsen started for the Arachnids and went 5 full and was followed by TJ Scorsone and Darrell Duncan. Leading the offense for the Yankees were Ron Smaka 3-3 and Ron Massaroni 2-3. Im sensing a theme here. For the spiders, Duncan was 2-2. The race is tightening up going down the stretch.
