On a very hot afternoon, most fathers were home drinking beer. However, the Vets and Dodgers engaged in a battle on the diamond, that lasted almost 3 hours. The dodgers jumped out ahead for a 3 run lead before the Vets responded with a couple in the third. The Vet's pitcher Joe Sarubbi, then shut the door, allowing just one more run. He pitched 4.1 innings allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. Bill Kervan, the Vets own Marianno Riveria, allowed just one more hit. and no runs, to complete the game. Al had 2 hits and 2 RBI's for the Dodgers. Enough can't be said for Ed Rogers, the Dodger's pitcher. He went the distance, in an extroidinary effort, considering the heat. The Vets put together 14 hits to amass their nine runs. Joe Sarubbi lead the way with 3 hits and an RBI. Dave DeMaria had 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Al Hart and T Scanu each had 2 RBIs. Congrats to Ed Rogers and the Dodgers for an outstanding game.

Even more impressive is the fact that Ed also pitched a complete game two days prior, on friday night - the guy's a gamer, a great teammate and a class act.
The Dodgers showed up and played by far their best game of the year in some very bad weather conditions. Each and every player on the Dodgers played their hearts out and never quit.I am very proud of all of them and they should be proud of themselfs also.Good Job Guys. Thanks Tony and the Vets for their kind words. It was a fun game to play in.
