Orioles 12 A's 1

Chris Abrams threw 4 shutout innings to lead the Orioles past the A's. Abrams allowed three hits, no walks and struck out three. It was the O's eighth straight win after starting the season with a loss and a tie.

The Orioles used a 15 hit attack including two hits each by Mark Lennox, Paul Scutieri, Doug Reisinger, Joe Careccia, Al Dudla and Dick Stark. Reisinger drove in four and Stark knocked in three.

Dan Spilman had a pair of hits for the 4-4 A's. Jim Maloney took the loss for the A's allowing 13 hits, 4 walks and 11 runs in 5 innings of work.

Dick

Don't be so humble! Gosh, your team is so much better than that! That should almost count as two wins - not just one! The game was close until I had to take the tarps off the mound and home plate!

The Aging Orioles' got hits in all the right places, using their guile and muscle to keep the flairs just out of our fielders reaches. But they took the opportunities presented to them by always having someone in scoring position and getting them home one way or another. After a while they wear you down and then really start pounding the ball. Truly a dynamite offensive team.

The top three batters for the A's were kept mostly in check, accounting for 5 strikeouts - their only hit being a David Schillinger double with no outs, only to be stranded there. Spilman had a single and double and scored the lone A's run (we'll leave out whose error gave way to that). Maloney had a single for the A's and Demers (me) stretched a long double into a single. (Figured I might as well list all the hits for us - there weren't too many).

And Dick, be a little more of an advocate for your AO's!

No potato or carrot update this week. Have to go to the market to get more vegetables.
