In a see-saw battle at SUNY on Friday, July 7, the Aging Orioles prevailed over the Highlanders. Both starting pitchers (Abrams for the Orioles and Jackson for the Highlanders) pitched well and each team scrapped for runs. The Highlanders opened a 2-1 lead at the end of two innings and the Orioles responded taking a 6-3 lead after three innings. It was 6-5 Orioles into the seventh inning when Scutieri hit a line drive that refused to respond to gravity and rolled to the right-field fence. By the time the relay had reached the infield, he had circled the bases with what proved to be the winning run. The Highlanders rally in the bottom of the seventh came up a run short. The Orioles hitting was led by Lennox and Pologa ( who also earned the save in relief) with two hits each. Scorsone led the Highlanders with three hits.
