Dennis Pierce and Darrell Duncan pitched the WhizKids to a doubleheader sweep of the Hornets in two 5-inning games. In the first game, Pierce stuck out 5 and allowed 1 earned run. In game 2, Duncan scattered 6 hits, struck out 4, and closed the door in the 5th with the tying run on base. For the WhizKids, Chris Hunt and Joe Torre each went 3-3, and Duncan had 3 hits, 3 steals, and scored 3 runs. For the Hornets, Mark Tryon was 4-5, and Don "Hondo" Hudson was 2-3 and dusted off his pitching arm for a fine effort in the 2nd game. WhizKids take the season series 2-1.
