Jim Ansel and Jim Latorre both showed why they are (and have been for years) been two of the most dominant pitchers in the CDMSBL. Mr. Ansel threw the first four innings and limitted the Pirates to one hard hit ball. His control of fast balls, curves, and change ups was the key to his success. Jim Latorre pitched the last three innings and again mimnimized the damage by the Pirates with more of a hard throwers mentality. He got in only one jam, by walking the first two batters in the sixth inning and falling behind the third hitter 3-1, but pitched out of it by inducing a pop-up and a double play. Mr Ansel also helped out on the offensive side of the ball with a couple of hits and an RBI. Dave Mitchell and Mike Girard also had RBI's for the Fish. Ron Smaka and Mike Kane were the outstanding hitters for the Pirates, each lining doubles of the outfield fence. The Marlins improved their record to 12-3. The Pirates fall to 11-6-1.
