I think everyone painfully remembers how the felt after playing 4-5 games over five days. Granted there isn't anything else to do in Nebraska, but how about these lunatics?
September 7, 2006 -- After the umpire shouted "Play ball!" that's just what they did - for 30 hours and five minutes in what is believed to be the longest baseball game in history. The marathon contest in Alliance, Neb., went on for 84 innings, with 40 players rotating in and out in a bid to set a Guinness World Record.
Some lunies in Pottsville, Pa., did the same thing in basketball back in the late '60s. Outdoor game that set a Guinness record. It was fun to have played in it. Can't remember the logistics of it, but we were all very tired puppies when all was said and done.
I'd bet we could get 40 guys and a bunch of umpires to break that record. A field with lights is all we'd need. The media would cover it, especially if we attached a legit benefeciary to it.
When and where is all I want to know. We could probably work something out with the Town of Colonie for Cook Park's Rogowicz field and they also have a pavilion and an amphitheater if we were to have any musicians amongst our ranks. We could do a fund raiser for the fallen State Trooper Longobardo Family. Just a thought.
