On a great day for baseball, the Vets outlasted the Blue Thunder by 2. Joe Sarubbi, pitched a complete game, scattering 10 hits. He helped his own cause by getting on base 5 times; a hit and 4 walks. Bob Lawyer and Chuck Stanley each had 3 hits with J Vidor adding 2. The Vets put together 12 runs on 12 hits. Blue Thunder put up 10 hits, with Matt Kelly contributing 3 including a booming triple.
Thunder never gave up ( as usual). They put a scare into us coming back with 2 runs in the last inning, and leaving the bases loaded. Mr Geonnelle put a lot of wood on the ball and sent it to deep center, Mike Hart fortunetly for us, was playing about a mile and 1/2 out there and was able to settle under it for the final out of the game. We believe if this game was at the town park, that would have been over the fence. It's always a great game when we play the Thunder. They are a class act. Already looking forward to next year. Tony
