Hello CDMSBL gang, I know we still have a couple teams still playing 28+ ball, but how about everone else, are we doing fall ball this year? I remember playing at Clifton Commons and New Scotland. I have a few players interested and can probably put together a team. Please leave a message on the site if were going to do fall ball , thanks..
Greg, as far as I know there is no official ' fall ball" scheduled. Last year the two teams which went to Florida had some practices and scrimmages with each other during September and October. This year I believe John Reel has put together a team, and Art Gianakos has put together a team. Perhaps they would be interested in a scrimmage if you put a team together.
Guys, quite honestly I think that if we wantto play fall ball this year someone (Q.) needs to step up and secure a field and arrange things. Jim Jordan was the driving force behind the last couple of years of it and as we all know, him no here no more! and yeswe do miss him.
Greg, I would be interested in helping you find a field if there are enough interested players. I played ( C and P, mostly) for Blue Thunder in 48s and if we have any warm weekends left would love to play more ball. May be able to secure a field near Bennington, VT (hour from our usual fields). Lat me know if I can help.
I'm thinking forget fall ball this year. The weather is so bad the 28+ is having problems finishing there final game. Which should be a great match up of two great pitchers. Yes I know Jim Jordon was the backbone behind fall ball. But you must remember I was in Iraq and didn't know if someone took over for him. (what a great guy, by the way, he was a pleasure to play with) I thought maybe dixon or hart may of taken over. Anyway, I may take the reins next fall and get us a field. Its a bit to late this year. Thanks for your responses. See you in the spring.
You are right. It's probably too late to start an organized fall ball league for 2006. But we're not folding our tents until next spring.
Fall Ball can work. As previously stated, Jim Jordan proved it. But it takes a Jim Jordan like effort to make it happen. Someone needs to make the committment to organize and run it.
We have three teams going to Florida this year (one 45+ wood bat and two 47+ metal bat). Between now and November, there's probably going to be scrimmage games every weekend. So there will be opportunites to continue playing baseball.
Yes, we do play when it's snowing. Just ask the guys who went to Cooperstown a few years back.
