Welcome Back!
(Preview)
Welcome back to the revamped 55+ Cubs. The defending champs lost 5 players from last year's championship team (retirement, moving, and free agency). The players who filled those 5 spots were salty veterans who had been away from the game for a few years. Ed Class, Alex Marin, Dave Schillinger, Georg...

Dodgers vs. Peppers
(Preview)
The day started with news worse than a rain-out. The Watervliet field has been shut down by the governor until further notice. I was afraid that losing such a beautiful field would be the proverbial straw that breaks the 2020 season's back. But, thanks to the combined efforts of John Reel and Jim Bonap...

Friends: In an earlier posting, I said I looked forward to playing this season. When I wrote that, I did. But I've changed my mind and decided not to play this year. It would have been my 23rd straight in the league. After reading and thinking more about Covid-19, I realized that at my age, 73, (and any age...

The Capital Division is up and running. We have fields ready for games and eager players, but we are short. We lost some players to health concerns. Please let me know if you want to help out the oldies and get some extra playing time. We are flexible about your age and ability. We just want to get some fun a...

ways to avoid deadly bacteria & viruses
(Preview)
In my last posting, I forgot to put down my doctor's advice for steering clear of the potentially deadly MRSA bacteria that got me and now the equally lethal Corona virus. Both can target us all. It's really simple. It only takes water (or alcohol) and memory. Both the virus and bacteria are spread like...

Senior Men's Memorial Baseball field
(Preview)
I started a go fund me campaign to see if I could raise enough money to start building a baseball field. I thought I already had the 3 acres need, but that fell through. So, I'm reaching out to everyone who might know of any cheap land available? Farm land would be the best because it's already cleared and t...

Is there a team going to Arizona this Fall? My daughter lives near Phoenix now. It would be awesome to visit and play ball too. Went to FL with the 53+ Caps last Fall and plan on doing it again.
