Baseball Field
(Preview)
Has anyone ever inquired about using the old " babe ruth" field located at Hoffman Park off McCarty Avenue. I know some softball leagues use it once in awhile but really don't the extent of it's usage. It looks unused most days.

38+ - 5/11 Bethlehem - A' s 10 - Peppers 1
(Preview)
You could tell right from the first batter that things were not going to go the Peppers way. Lead off batter Meyers tags a pitch that on any other night screams over the left fielder's head. Instead. Blustery Bob, the Bethlehem Wind God comes up with a strong gale to blow it back to the left fielder for an a...

Cubs Win 3rd In A Row
(Preview)
The La La battery of Mike LaBarge behind the plate and Mike LaCouture on the mound kept the Cubs going as they worked diligently against a very ready Waterford team, although Ralph Marrero had Visa problems that caused him to get to the park late, Mike La C struggled with his fastball and curve (the five...

Orioles 8 Reds 4
(Preview)
The Orioles and the Reds squared off last night in Ravena and Bob Bolt was the story for the Orioles. After the Reds scored 4 times in the top of the first Bolt came on in relief and threw 6 scoreless innings. Bob allowed 3 hits, 1 walk and struck out 6.
Paul Scutieri led the offense with a single, double...

blue jays 2, peppers 1. thurs. may 25
(Preview)
it was a good, tight game, a game of small-ball, on a pretty night at cba. it was also the blue jays' first game since may 2nd and a month of rain.
we faced a very good pitcher in andy sheehan – 7 strikeouts, no walks, 1 unearned run – as he mixed his pitches (fine curve, well-located fastball, good chang...

38+ - Highlanders 8 - A's 5 (5/25 - Knick)
(Preview)
Potato Trick Update: Potato reappeared in my back pocket. It was baked. A bit leery of the sour cream that was now on it. Hmmmm....
And again, back to the game...
The Highlanders used some key hits to score their runs in defeating the A's. The A's once again scored first on a single by Newcomb, a s...

Highlanders 8- A's 5
(Preview)
The Highlanders held off a last inning rally (bases loaded when the last out was made) for the win at the Knick last night. It was a crisp, well-played game, especially since we finished five and a half innings after having to wait until 6:30 to start the game.

38+ - Cubs 6 - A's 1 (5/22 - Scotia)
(Preview)
First things first (which is what they always are because if they weren't first then they would not be the first thing and I would have a problem). Anyway, in my last post (5/11 A's vs. Peppers), Jim Dalton responded to a question with a story about a "Potato" trick. I'd like to say that I was all set to try i...

Reds 4 Hummingbirds 2 (38 over)
(Preview)
What a night for a game, cool and cloudy with a steady breeze at a soggy Bethlehem ballpark. Field conditions were marginal to say the least. It was good to finally play after a 16 day layoff. The Reds scattered 10 hits and scoring 3 runs in the 7th while the Hummingbirds spread out 6 hits through 7. Both pi...

Knick work day - Sat 5/27
(Preview)
I was informed this afternoon there's going to be a work day (morning) this Saturday starting at 8:30am at the Knick. The infield is going to be regraded and red clay is being laid on the infield surface.
This should greatly improve the drainage of the infield. We (CDMSBL) lost one game this week be...

Rescheduling rainouts
(Preview)
If you take a look at all three division schedules, you will see there's been 21 rainouts in the past 10 days.
This is extraordinary. We had almost 50% of our anticipated rainouts for an entire season occur in just 10 days.
Our managers have been diligently working to reschedule these games.

Speaking of rainouts
(Preview)
Da Bums in the 47's find themselves in the unfortunate position of having to make up a rainout on Sunday, May 28th. Our catching staff will be involved in previously scheduled "stuff". If there is a catcher who would like to get is some extra playing time. we could certainly use you. I can be reached at ei...

Since we aren't outside playing baseball.........
(Preview)
I'd thought a little exercise for the brain can't hurt.
Is it possible/legitmate to get four outs in one inning?
Please respond to this post with a "proof-of-concept" if you can think of a situation.
