Family get together at the A-Diamond!
(Preview)
Last night at the A-Diamond the schedule read 55+ Cubs at the Angels at 5:30 pm. That always is family night. These two teams are made up of friends (baseball brothers) who have at one time or another been teammates, most of them for many years. To add to that wonderful mixture of players, we had a visit fr...

Pirates 5 Arachnids 3
(Preview)
On a great nite for baseball at Swift Road, the Pirates and Arachnids hooked up for their 1st meeting of the season, and the tone of this game was some timely fielding plays and an 8-inning pitchers duel between Stephan Koutsakis for the Arachnids, and Jimmie Dalton, a late spot start for the Pirates. D...

Damn Yankees win a tight one, 3 - 1.
(Preview)
This was a great game that almost wasn't. The Cubs had two late cancelations, and were left with just 8 players. Six of the 9 teams in the division were playing on the same night, so the borrowing attempts were not successful. After some pregame negotiations, Steve Van Gelder was allowed to sub for the C...

Opening Nite Peppers 11 Pirates 10 4/28/22 could have been 12/28
(Preview)
In a typical match up between these two clubs, a seesaw affair, with whoever could score last would come out on top. In a game that featured the Peppers furnishing the Buccos 4 errors, 5 walks and 2 HBP, with the Pirates reciprocating with 4 walks and 6 errors as both teams tried to shake off winter rust on...

55+ Cubs squeak by the Americans: 5 - 1
(Preview)
The Cubs and Americans met, at Bob Moore this past Friday night (big thanks to Jim Bonaparte) for the opening contest for both teams, in the 2022 season. It was a cold and blustery night, but both teams made the most of it. The American's rode the slick pitching of Dan Durback and solid fielding to build a...

55 Twins Encounter Damn Yankees
(Preview)
Playing at Bethlehem on a field that was in sub par conditions, the 55 Damn Yankees and Twins got a game in last evening. Very sunny but quite windy and cool. Looking for a Home Renovation Referral
(Preview)
I am hoping to do some renovations to a side porch. The work would include some masonry repair, replacing a door and some carpentry work and replacing the wooden exterior wall with some stone work or brick (depending on cost). I am hoping for a referral; especially if the contractor plays in our league...

Brrr.
(Preview)
The Dodgers and Pirates dug out their winter scarves, mittens and long johns and showed up to Bob Moore ready to play some baseball. It was nice to see old friends even if the only body parts visible were the eyes and eye brows. We're from New York. We weren't going to let wind chills in the mid 30s keep us of...
