A long winter
(Preview)
It's February 1, and still six weeks before Major League Baseball pitchers and catchers report. And another five weeks after that before the first CDMSBL pitch is thrown. It makes me yearn for spring, and conjurs up two of my favorite baseball quotes: "There are only two seasons: winter and baseball...

no new over-62 team; new age brackets?
(Preview)
Guys - I regret to say that after making plans to start a seventh team in the over-62s just two weeks ago, that I'm pulling out. Simple reason: Time. I underestimated the amount of time it tasks to get this underway. There's really too little time to pull a team together (get signatures on forms, collect...

Hey, crimestoppers, I'm talking to YOU!
(Preview)
A crime has been committed. Here's what I've uncovered so far. Apparently, there are eligible players who cannot find a place to play on a 62+ Division team. How can that be? That's disgraceful. My brothers, that be a crime! I've played with one of these fellows, and I'll tell you he's better than 75% of...

Starting a new over-62 team
(Preview)
Guys: I'm making preliminary attempts to start a new over-62 team. More younger players and free agents are coming up from the over-55s to the over-62s, so rosters are getting bigger. That means many players will find themselves sitting more and playing less than they'd like. Players in the 62s have...

A salute to Butch Lilac

Sadly Butch passed recently. His obit is in the times union. Butch managed the Stillwater Tigers in the 30+ after managing many of those players as kids in youth and high school ball . It was a great team and the players responded to his guidance and won a couple championships. The obit mentions one such...
