The Humminbirds and the Orioles played to a 4-4 tie last night in a game stopped by darkness after 6 innings.
The Humminbirds scored four times in the fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead. Earl Mitchell held the Orioles to just three hits through 5 but the Orioles capitalized on an error, two walks and th...

Silver Marlins open defense of title in style.
(Preview)
The Silver Marlins lost long time friends and teammates Jon Martin and Ralph Caputo to free agency, but added log-time nemesis Jim Latorre and Mike Cleary. By the looks of game one Friday night at New Scotland, it'll be alright!!!
Jim Ansel, Phil Gadomski, and Jim Latorre held the Fordians to 1 unea...

For the baseball cognoscenti....
(Preview)
I was watching baseball highlights last night and saw??? Paul Lo Duca tag out the runner at the plate. The ump called the runner safe. In the heat of the moment Lo Duca threw the ball into the ground. He was promptly ejected from the game. After being ejected he picked up the baseball.
My thought/que...

over-38 cubs 16, peppers 3
(Preview)
about the new 38+ cubs, there's good news - and bad news.
the good news is for the league: we've got a competitive team here, they're going to put lots of teams to the proverbial test.
the bad news was for the red hot chili peppers who didn't fare so well on that test: the expansion team from scotia...

Reds 7, Highlanders 6 (8 innings)
(Preview)
The Reds and Highlanders started their season on Sunday at the Kinderhook Town Park. The weather was beautiful for baseball.
The Reds bats were a little slow out of the gate trailing 5-1 through 4. True too form the bats started to heat up scoring 6 runs in the final 4 innings. A good team effort by all,...

Pirates 11, Hummingbirds 0
(Preview)
Call it a hangover from our March trip to San Antonio (seven Pirates went), but we came out wearing our hitting shoes. Big night for Richie Knaupp in particular, who went 3-3 with two BOMBS that would have cleared the fence (if a fence had only been there). Newcomers John Comensky, Jimmy McQuade, and...

SAME OLD STORY..
(Preview)
The new Mets, came out looking good with some new talent against a powerful Yankee team. The Mets have a great team but the Yankees pitching was great. The Mets had a great start from Jerry F. but for the Mets it was the same old story, a few errors but very poor coaching, the coach went on the mo...

Hornets 8, DaBums 1
(Preview)
Dave Madden pitched three strong innings and got solid relief from Al Wolfert and Marc Tryon to help the Hornets win their opener.
Defensive gems by SS Ron Smacka and 3B Al Wolfer drew some gasps from the crowd and both benches.
Several Hornets had key hits, but it was DaBums who made a statement.

Opening Day
(Preview)
I just wanted to thank all the individuals who put together yesterday's Opening Day ceremony (47's). The moment of silence at shortstop to remember our friend, Jim Jordan, was especially touching.
What a PERFECT day for baseball. I can't recall ever having such good weather for Opening Day.
